Index board

For a dinosaur, divide the orange DMG pill by the green price. Ankylosaurus is 140 divided by 92, about 1.52. Pachycephalosaurus is 30 divided by 30. That is the whole formula. There is no hidden multiplier, and Friend Boost is not applied.

Shop board

Bone Mender, Tar Pit, and the rest come from one timed restock. They are ranked by what the row says it does. A later restock can remove them. Do not mix those prices into the dinosaur ratio.

A tier

Player decision If this exact trio is in stock and you already own a trap worth slowing traffic for, buy Tar Pit before the crane.

B tier

Player decision The second trap in that trio, after Tar Pit, when the lane itself is the problem.

Player decision Consider it after the index card you still need is affordable, and only if defences are actually getting hurt.

Player decision Buy it only when the live row is in stock. Do not confuse it with Dimorphodon.

C tier

Player decision Buy it after you own a trap that can be destroyed. Do not buy it first.

FAQ

Build a Dino Defense 🦖 ranking questions

Why is Compsognathus not S tier?

It is the right first buy at $6, and SPD 26 is excellent, but DMG 4 for $6 is a worse ratio than Pachycephalosaurus or Ankylosaurus. First buy and best ratio are different questions.

Do boss cards belong at the top because they have more HP?

No. Grovebreaker has HP 30K and costs $4,000 for DMG 120. That is a wave you have to clear, not a good damage-per-dollar purchase. Boss cards stay on the boss list.
